Positive Identification and Arrest of Pickpocketing Offenders in Chinatown

In November 2025, Townhall neighbourhood officer PC 09078 Tang identified pickpocketing incident in which a mobile phone was stolen from a customer inside a supermarket. The offenders—a female suspect accompanied by her husband—were quickly identified through local enquiries.

PC 09078 TANG led the primary investigation, reviewing CCTV from Wing Fat Chinese Supermarket on Faulkner Street, who provided timely and valuable assistance. Following clear identification, PC TANG conducted an arrest attempt; however, enquiries revealed that the primary suspect had already left the UK and travelled to Romania. The offender was subsequently circulated as wanted.

PC TANG maintained close communication with Immigration Services throughout the following months. In late January 2026, Immigration confirmed that both offenders had re‑entered the UK and returned to Manchester.

On Tuesday 10th February 2026, officers from Townhall C Relief assisted PC TANG in a second arrest attempt, which resulted in a successful and positive outcome. Both offenders were arrested and interviewed by PC 18956 Riaz in relation to the offence.

Following consultation, both were charged and bailed with conditions prohibiting them from entering Manchester City Centre until their court appearance scheduled for July 2026.

This case demonstrates the value of strong partnership working—between neighbourhood officers, immigration authorities, relief teams, and local businesses who provide crucial evidence.

扒窃嫌疑人成功确认与抓捕

2025年11月，一名顾客在一家超市内遭遇手机被扒窃的案件。通过社区警务部门的初步调查，民警确认了一名女性嫌疑人及其丈夫有重大作案嫌疑。

09078 号警员汤警官主导了此次初步调查工作，并在 Faulkner Street 的 Wing Fat 华润超市提供的 CCTV 监控协助下，成功确认嫌疑人身份。汤警官随即开展第一次抓捕行动，但进一步查询后得知，主要嫌疑人已离境返回罗马尼亚。嫌疑人随后被正式通缉。

2026年2月10日（星期二），在 Townhall C 值勤队警员的协助下，汤警官组织了第二次抓捕行动，并取得成功。两名嫌疑人均被成功抓获并接受讯问。经审查后，两人被正式起诉，并以不得进入曼彻斯特市中心为保释条件，等待于 2026年7月的庭审。
